Looting is one of the 3 worst things about PoE 1.

(I don't know if 2 does it better.)




Looting in PoE is just... one of the things that most makes me not want to play.

Whether it's because:

Omg I'm just trying to loot this measly Chromatic Orb, I already won the fight, why are there still SO MANY LINGERING EFFECTS for like TWENTY SECONDS???

Or because:

Omg there's about 15 Simulacrum Splinters over here, all separate. I have to click them all separately. It takes 300 Splinters to make a map. Omfg I have 13 maps in my stash I haven't even gotten to yet. Omfg I've clicked on these stupid little f###ers 3900 TIMES????? I'm done, I don't even care anymore. I'm not picking them up. Goodbye small gains, I just don't care anymore. Goodbye Fusings, goodbye Alts, goodbye Chroms, Jewelers, Regals, hell even Alchs, SCOURS, CHAOS, VAAL, WHO CARES, ONE DIVINE IS WORTH A THOUSAND CHAOS, IT'S WORTH IGNORING USEFUL DROPS JUST TO NOT HAVE TO CLICK ON ALL THIS CRAP AAAAAAAAAAAA~




Looting is just awful. Just absolutely awful. I might even call it the #1 worst thing, above bad boss fight mechanics, and above the game being balanced around the top meta builds.

I think they already improved it so that more stacks drop some time ago, but yeah, as another thread says "We are not getting any younger" so at some point GGG needs to do sth. Autopick up is a bit generic but people ruin their wrists. It needs to be implemented for a portion of the loot.

^ It's not perfect. Why not have it to where we can pick and choose what items we want to auto loot. Things should be able to be auto picked like gold. Nobody is trying to take all day looting things they already need. Inventory management pretty much has to be paid for, why not at least have and auto loot system and I would also say an auto sorter but that would be for another thread..

Loot is fine, no need for auto pick up. Its an ARPG and picking up loot is a part of it.

Its just something some people complain about, if you give them the auto loot feature, they complain about something else.

Also if you want to loot every single simulacrum splinter, what is actually nothing much worth, then thats your decision. If you get bothered of single splinter drops, then increase the strictness of your lootfilter or remove them entirely or only show higher stacks of different currency. There are options.

Yeah they are pretty much saying, fuck off and don't make any changes or features for anyone even though, GGG is not paying them for it. What issue would be with adding a selective auto loot feature, there isn't one. It's not about being lazy, it's so I can stay doing what I want to do which is kill and go. I don't want to kill and back track to pick up everything I need anyway. The only issue is performance with juiced maps and looting. The finding something else to complain about is bs because those are the only things I got an issue with. Let's be real a game with thousands of items that can drop, should have a better flow when it comes to looting. They say looting is fine but if they were have an auto loot feature they would use it. If they didn't that would just be flat out ignorant. They shut down feedback as if the feedback is asking for someone to cut a limb off.

the challenge here is to make players choose what to pickup, adding a certain danger to your decision to go for a unneeded cromatic is just one of the simpler choices you can be challenged with.

I feel like I normally like your posts, but are you unironically saying that being annoyed at looting is a "skill issue"???


At any rate... remember, if we're making up the system, we can do WHATEVER we want. Attacking a version of a suggestion that you find to be easily attacked, and then abandoning the conversation as "resolved," is the definition of strawman. (Not saying YOU'RE doing that, but many people certainly are.)

We can simply make it a click-to-vacuum mechanic, rather than an auto-loot for passing by it mechanic. Click one Splinter, get all Splinters. Maybe even click one Tier X/Y/Z currency, vacuum all of them. Maybe even customizable tiers! We can literally do anything we want. No reason to stop at the strawman representation that certain "hArDcOrE gAmErS" would oppose. Hell, you could even turn it off, if you wanted the primo masochistic SSF HC experience. We shall not impose on YOUR right to impose upon yourself!!!!
