Zarokh and name reusing

So this league has the npc called Zarokh the Temporary talking in mirages

I thought he would be the boss

But today I realized he's reference to poe2 (there is a boss)

So eh... why? Why put a reference to character who doesn't even exist in poe1?

Wouldn't it be better to not have these games reference each other?

POE1 and POE2 occupy the very same world, decades apart. Zarokh didn't magically appear in the years between; he has existed for thousands of years. He very much exists during POE1.

Even if it only amounts to a one-off easter egg, it's still pretty cool for the players who enjoy both games.
They are building lore bridges. :)
Name sound like a named trash mob in one of the very first quests in the wow classic horde starter area.
Masterpiece of 3.16 lore

And yet they added Acolyte of Chayula to poe2
And removed Chayula from poe1 completely

Idk is poe2 supposed to be 'same world'? Or are same mechanics just placeholders? (They said the early access endgame is placeholder)

Chayula, He Who Dreamt used to be one of the 5 bosses of the Breach league.

Then at some point around 3.15-ish there was an Atlas node to spawn Xeshtula - when all 5 bosses combined into one.

Then that node disappeared (and Xeshtula with it).

Now we know what happened. If you complete Ailith's quest line, you can enter the new door and talk to Chayula the Dreaner. There was a big falling out between him and the other Breachlords. He rebelled against them. They are trying to combine again, this time into Xesht (without the 'ula' part).

Years later, in PoE 2, you can meet Xesht.

Also, if you enter the Monastery in PoE 1 and go to the left, you can see a kid monk training... :)

They are definitely building lore bridges between the two games.
