!SOLVED! Solution at the end of the post.
I just wanted to share my experience with the 3.27 patch so far. Overall, I’m enjoying the league itself and I'm having a lot of fun playing. However, I’ve run into a major issue that’s been frustrating my gameplay and it's loading times when joining other peoples hideouts and maps.
Before the 3.27 patch I never had these issues, even though my PC is old. Its always run Path of Exile pretty solidly. But since the patch whenever I try to join someone elses hideout or enter a map with other players, the load time is ridiculously long. This has started to disrupt the experience.
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------
PC speccs:
Processor: Intel(R) Core(TM) i7-2600K CPU @ 3.40GHz 3.40 GHz
Installed RAM: 12.0 GB
Storage: 932 GB HDD Samsung HD103SJ & 112 GB SSD Corsair Force 3 SSD (Game is installed on SSD)
Graphics Card: NVIDIA GeForce GTX 750 Ti (976 MB)
Windows 10 home
System Type: 64-bit operating system, x64-based processor
Troubleshooting steps I've taken:
-Uninstalled the PoE Launcher and reinstalled via Steam, this didn’t resolve the issue.
-Uninstalled both the Steam and PoE versions completely and then reinstalled again with the original PoE launcher, but the slow loading times still persist.
-Increased shader cache size in NVIDIA control panel, this helped with general load times, but didn’t improve the load time issue when joining other players hideouts/maps specifically.
-Adjusted all in game settings to low, except for textures, which is set to medium since that setting can’t be changed. - this didn't solve the problem.
-Updated to the latest NVIDIA drivers. - this didn't solve it.
-Played around with NVIDIA control panel to try and put everything on "maximum performance only" and to match the same settings as in game - hasn't changed anything.
-Switching between DirectX 11, Vulkan and DirectX 12 - Did not resolve the issue, but I started to notice visual defects on DirectX 12 & Vulkan. Screen going black, monsters not visually appearing, spells not showing.
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Is there something about patch 3.27 that could have caused changes to how loading times work? or is it purely a hardware issue?
Any help or insights would be much appreciated! Thanks
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
SOLUTION:
After trying multiple troubleshooting steps without success I managed to resolve the issue by adjusting the page file settings on my SSD (the drive where the game is installed).
Initially Windows had it set to automatically manage the page file, so instead I manually increased the size of the page file, this allowed the game to have more available virtual memory which in turn improved the loading times when joining others.
I went into System Properties -> Advanced System Settings -> Performance -> Settings -> Advanced -> Virtual Memory.
I unchecked the box for "automatically manage paging file size for all drives" and selected custom size.
I set both the initial size and maximum size to higher values (the exact values depend on your own systems available memory)
I applied the changes and restarted my computer.
After making these adjustments the loading times when entering other players hideouts and maps drastically improved.
The frustration from long loading times is no longer an issue.
This adjustment seems to have fixed the problem at least for me. I hope it might help others who are experiencing similar issues.
1) You have a really outdated system. It's time to get a new modern system. CPU and GPU are ages behind. This is the main contributor to problems.
2) Increasing Page File is only a bandaid fix (until you get a new system) because that means your system doesn't have enough RAM and therefore it will use part of your SSD when more memory is needed to make up for it - but paging file is slow because secondary storage is always slower than RAM. I bet you probably have to turn down settings as FPS gets low.
3) When you opt for a new system, be sure to get at least 32GB of RAM and a faster new gen NVME (not SSD).
NVME is miles ahead of SSD in speeds - and God forbid anyone use hard drives for games in 2026 lol.
Hope this helps.

even though OP has an ouotdated system it still happens on modern, me sitting on a 7800X3D with a 9070XT with a GEN4 nvme game drive and still have for some hideouts between 2-6minutes load times or it just gets stuck there and never loads so i have to alt f4 while my own HO and joining maps are litterly instant so there is always something changeing in the backend that screws with the game,
more or less every patch since 2.0 Vulkan or DX12 has been broken back and forth mostly Vulkan that out of nowhere has memory leaks/Vram leaks so GGG has issues with the game

That’s not true.
I have one of the best high-end PCIe 4.0 NVMe SSD and 32 GB of RAM (PoE doesn't know how to use RAM at all, the game hangs at 4GB at peak and never loads more), but my CPU is an i7-6700 and my GPU is a GTX 970M. I also have 84 GB of virtual memory, which is what the original poster is referring to. Vulkan takes about 2–5 minutes to load, while DX12 takes only 10–20 seconds.
From what I understand, the game needs a CPU with strong single-core performance, ideally around 5 GHz. After that, having more high-performance cores also helps.

Worked on my brother PC, it's better than mine but took longer, specially in 4 or 5 ways, like a minute to reenter ... and like act7 town and some other weird maps the load time was painful.
And to counter the argument of "specialists" his PC had NVME ... and was slower than my potato masher with SSD .... so you should do this

Thanks! This finally fixed my issue. It wasn't just slow loading times, some maps would just bomb over and over..disconnecting me. My brother, would load into these maps fine. Nothing helped (updated drivers, cleared cache, tried different settings, removed all my configs, verified steam files), I tried everything short of re-installing the game, although the game was just installed about 2 weeks ago. I had 32GB RAM and set my page file to 40,000MB/40,000MB.

this worked somehow it's much better btw if you have to much of the memory allocation on a SSD it will slow it's speed like having over 70% of m.2 ssd full will lower it's speed so don't allocate to much.
