Random transfigured build
|
While looking through different ways of triggering both Volatile Dead + Desecrate, i've discovered Cast on Ward Break. That's what I really want to use in the final iteration of my build. Necessary items are:
Ngamahu's Sign + Eye of Innocence. When you hit and proc ignite chance, you'll take damage, which means ward breaks. Olroth Bloodline, 5% chance to restore ward on hit. Getting as many hits as possible will reliable recover ward for us. It'll instantly break, which will trigger spells for us. Several thousands of ward. CDR means more volatile dead orbs for us. I think i won't get more than 10-20k ward, because i still need to activate volatile dead cores. Right now i'm using spellslinger setup, but will probably switch to cast while channeling to fit auras instead. After i get Olroth Bloodline, there will be the final transition. While looking at what other spellslinger users were doing, I rediscovered Piet's Pen. Here's the math:
I currently have: VDoC (Volatile Dead for clearing until I fit Less Duration) - Immolate - Fire Penetration - Power Charge on Crit - Spellslinger trigger - Spell Cascade - Spellslinger added damage. I use kinetic bolt instead of Frenzy because it fits ~0.468 cooldown With Poet's Pen I'll get rid of Spell Cascade and Spellslinger trigger. Power Charge on Crit will be moved to Frenzy, that replaces Kinetic Bolt. I think getting 9% CDR and a bit of attack speed for frenzy should be easy. Therefore, Poet's Pen is better if +3 to level of VD and Immolate is better, than spellslinger's added Damage. I didn't even mention Squire and additional aura instead of expensive 6-link Spellslinger. Another thing I overlooked is that Cast on ward break only drops from Nightmare maps, which makes ward setup even less accessible from ssf. I'm not playing ssf, but i really want to make builds that don't need items locked behind voidstones. Ward setup will also be more expensive and less effective on bosses (low hits/second against single target), which is why I'll drop this idea. |

First real progress: I managed to complete a Polaric Invitation.
In my opinion, Volatile Dead of Confinement is just a bad alternative for the original Volatile Dead. They both has the same damage, but the only difference is that orbs don't track enemies, but instead explode after 1.5 seconds. This is worse for bossing, because original gem allows you to spawn all 60 orbs and they all will strike at once. Good initial damage makes the bossfight faster and ability not to aim at the boss makes the rest of the fight easier. Mapping is also worse, because original Volatile Dead allows you to off-screen enemies, while the transfigured version requires you to aim. The only benefit of the transfigured version is that you can choose a specific target (i only use it for Crimson Ore encouter). By the way, I've found Eagon. The first boss from the Originator chain should be Incarnation of Neglect, who will always move away from my attacks. I'm close to finishing the main goal of this challenge, but I still need more damage and defences. |

I've got Eldrich Voidstone and defeated the Incarnation of Neglect. All fight aren't very difficult, especially because of the experience i've got by playing Fire Trap of Blasting. After I finish two more fight and get Originator Voidstone, there will be the only thing left: "fully functional build". I have good ideas about future upgrades for this character. The first one will be Enmity's Embrace (Drops from incarnation of Fear, shouldn't be locked when i complete the challenge) and foulborn skin of the loyal. Combined with well rolled ruby flask and purity of fire, i can massively increase my damage.
