ES leech form Glacial Cascade of the Fissure

I'm using the GCF skill as a mine, I have ES leech, but I'm not receiving the ES leech. I noticed that when using Arcanist Brand with a skill in my bild and the leech works. Is this a bug?

Working as designed. Traps/mines are not the player, brands and self casting are, which is why leech works.

There is a way to make the mines leech back to the player with Machina Mitts unique gloves, but that is the only way to make mines leech that I can recall atm.
