Is there any way to find out cause of death post-mortem?
|
I'm still new (~1k hrs, 1st league from start) and the vast majority of my deaths are total mysteries to me and I would like to learn how to get better. My character has 50k armour, block caps, all 80% res including chaos, all immunities, tempest shield, molten shell, purity of fire, and guardian ascendency but I will die often within 20-50ms of entering a mirage.
Most recently was a Valdo's map where I booted in, heard "Now you--" and then dead. I think it was a monster related to Baran? I tried to go back to see if I could read the mods on the monster before dying again but all 5 portals were also one shots within 250ms. Is it all the "grip" modifiers? I understand certain pitfalls: I get that I should avoid reflect mods, and others that affect defenses and that there are slams and certain telegraphed attacks meant to one-shot. But is there any way to get a verbose console log to understand how specifically I'm dying? I thought I would feel out an understanding by now, but, while being deep and rewarding, the experience of the game is rarely sensible and it's starting to feel more like a fast board game with too many rules. Best thing u can do is record ur gameplay. Shadowplay ect. works pretty well.
Hard to tell what killed u, but in endgame maps 80% all res without spell suppression is still pretty squishy. Try to get 90% all res or ~100% spell suppression to not get one shot as much. It obviously also relies on the map mods u're running. Who knows what ur Valdo map had on it. PoE2 0.4 Character:

It's PoE, man. Cause of death: PoE.
The honest advice is to not worry about it, unless you keep dying. If you keep dying, increase your global EHP, since literally all types of incoming damage more or less have an equal chance to be one shotting you. After that, see if dying is common again. Rinse and repeat. Don't get too caught up on random singular deaths. You could have 80k HP and 75 endurance charges and still get one shot by some magic pack from off screen. The amount of times something kills me, then I come back and it's no problem, cannot be counted. And that's with crit immunity. This game is just nonsensical. That's what unregulated RNG will do. (It ain't good.) |

I'm trying to adjust my attitude. In order to get the benefits of RNG, one must be subject to it.
In the meantime, I think my life is a little low for someone still learning something new everyday. Thanks for the tips! |
