Are you impressed by Fissure and Pyre support?

I tried to make a fun build using a Volcanic Fissure build with Sabo because he gets cool down reduction. While I see more Fissure/Pyre, I am not impressed by their damage. Both of them have you be proc by your hits.

I feel the base damage of those two are just a bit too low. Pyre's cool down is even longer at 1s. Fissure is 0.5s.

How are you liking these two Exceptional gems? It seems quite a few exceptional are not that exceptional. I think most are more "situational" gems at best.

I really want to like Fissure support. It looks cool but damage is so-so.

With the Acceleration and Echo shrine, these two supports don't benefit from hitting faster.

So fissure is a slam skill, slam skills are famously jam packed with damage effectiveness so the only real possibilities for things that would potentially gain damage from it are earthquake and holy hammers, and of course leap slam. Huge gain of function on leap slam.

Pyre is great support for a strike skill. Or it would be if there was any inkling about what the 264% damage effectiveness was actually scaling.

Like is it scaling base damage, which on something like https://pobb.in/wT9hxeTVtIz7 is 2448 to 3673, but if I drop brutality and add call the pyre it says the average call the pyre hit damage is 13,469

which means its a dps loss in almost every single circumstance. Either POB's calculations are incorrect, which is a possibility or the Pyre support needs to go back into the oven until its scaling is actually fixed. I would say it appears so bad that it may actually warrant a mid-league buff just due to how scuffed it is. The absolute highest I could get it was a hit for 248,000 on an imported cyclone build that had ~8 mirrors worth of gear.

I played a jank "graft only" build for fun last league and I believe call the pyre hits multiple times. That would be 5x251.6% at level 4 and 20% quality if they all hit. You get another pillar at level 6 and another pillar per 20% quality so maybe there's something scalable there. The base radius is smaller than it was with the graft so I dunno. Doesn't seem great with the cooldown.

Fissure support seems like it's only made for Volcanic Fissure of Snaking atm. It actually seems really strong. Since you lose a level 1 imbue I don't think anyone has tried regular Vaal Volcanic Fissure but that probably works too and will trigger over and over if you can find a way to spam the vaal skill.
Right, but as I said either the damage calculations in path of building are very wrong or the damage calculations are very, very, intensely wrong. It appears to be calculating only the main hand weapon base damage in most circumstances.

I tried both Fissure and Pyre support for my Volcanic build and I can tell you, neither of them are real DPS increase. Visually they are fun but I get much better damage from a simple Critical supports.

I can't tell if Pyre can hit the same target multiple times. I feel it does not. Pyre itself has 1s cooldown and depending on which hits proc it because your Pyre could be traveling to another monster that you are not targeting.

I urge people to try them out and compare to your regular damage gems. Fissure offers some random aoe damage for skills that lack and that's about it. It is still random in 4 directions. And it is not a DPS increase once you have Acceleration or Echoing shrine buff. You can't reduce cool-down enough.

I am okay with cool-down as it makes Sabo more attractive but I think the base damage is a bit too low.

Like I said, these two gems don't feel "Exceptional". They are "Situational" at best. Pyre can cause Cover in Ash but I think you can get that from cluster jewels?
