Make Fortify Great Again

Becoming a pseudo-ailment just aint it. Being based on the damage you deal is so incredibly bad against every meaningful enemy. So let's try to look at this mechanic again, and see if we can... ... make it great again.




What if it applied itself, or gave stacks, just automatically... but perhaps it removes itself if you go X amount of time without landing a melee hit? Might not need to be the same skill that applied it, but this way ranged would have an awkward time keeping it up (if the timer is like 1 second), and we're not saying it ends on spell cast or anything, so that way you can still be Cast on Crit or something, if you happen to be.

As a first draft, I think this would be a good idea. My only thought against it would be, "Does a 1 second timer punish slow attack builds too much?" But I dunno if there's any builds that are over 1 second, and also maybe just make it 2 seconds lol.




Anyway, thoughts??? Anyone here??? ECHO- echo- echo...???
