Ground loot vs crafting

Ground loot in this game is so extremely unexciting.

Granted I'm playing SSF where crafting is a lot harder it means I have to hoard a billion items to reforge/recombinate to make my endgame items.

Thats good for you cause I have to buy even more stash tabs. Its bad for me cause the experience sucks.

In Diablo 2 which is the ARPG I've played the most I am actually excited for ground loot. Be it high runes or super rare uniques. I understand PoE2 has a different system for endgame items but it just sucks not being excited for ground loot.

At the same time its such a pain having to take an hour to organize stash just to be able to play the game. I dont know if this is an SSF thing but this gets tedious very fast.

There's a lot of competing mechanics that have lead to ground loot being sub-bar. We probably won't get to a state where you pick something up and that's a good thing. You need to recombine it, slam it with a perfect orb. Desecrate it. Remove bad modifiers with purple omens. These are used in combination of all the above.
I agree that there's more gravitas with ground loot. The crafting options are great but I'd like to see something that will make ground drops more enticing, maybe flesh out the tiers more or something?
After going back and forth between the two poe's I can confidently say I prefer finding 1-3 good bases and spamming them with quad tabs worth of alteration orbs rather than gather quad tabs of bases to slam 1-3 times -> recombo -> vendor.

Its hard to be excited for crafting bases when 99% of the time finding them means a few seconds of "oh this could be good. nope, nevermind. now its wasting space existing."

Im guessing the latter is the PoE2 system? Yeah.. it sucks. Especially in SSF.
