Searing Bond of Detonation - Incorrect detonate damage

I started the 3.28 league with this skill. I have pushed it far and there has been something that felt "odd" with it; sometimes it feels like I do a lot of damage, and sometimes it feels like I do only a fraction of the damage I should be doing.

Maybe it's because I didn't apply fire exposure, or didn't have arcane surge on, or something else?

No, and here's the whole situation:

Today I figured it out. I have a max totem limit of 16 currently, with multiple totems support (so I place 2 totems down at once).

Whenever I reach 14 placed totems and I place 2 totems more, the explosion happens. But it happens in a weird way that the 14 previously placed totems explode first, and the 2 explode right after that (there is a short delay in between). Until this day I thought it is because the game registers I have reached the max totem limit before those 2 last totems are "ready-to-explode", so "when they are ready to explode", they explode. Unfortunately that is not it.

Doesn't matter which of the 14 previously placed totems the target is in range of when I reach the max totem limit, they will take X amount of damage. But if they are in range of the last 2 totems I place, they will take a lot less damage.

So I assume the whole situation goes like this instead: I have 14 totems placed and I place 2 totems more to hit the max limit. Those 14 previously placed totems explode, dealing X*14*40% damage. And then those last 2 totems explode, dealing X*2*40% damage.

Please take a look at this, this has been really nice build to work on, and will definitely come back to this on later leagues as well!
