Extreme delays on start-up
|
Whenever I launch the game, it takes several minutes to show anything more than a black screen, and the task is marked as "not responding" in the task manager. During this time, my memory use slowly escalates to near 100% (or lower after switching to medium texture quality), while CPU use is almost zero. Also, the game is reading my SSD drive at high speed (80-100 MB/s).
This didn't happen before Mirage. My specs: 16 GB RAM, AMD Ryzen 5 1600 6-Core CPU, NVidia GeForce GTX 1050 Ti, PoE is on an SSD with ~50GB of free space. Last edited by TarrasqueSorcerer#3538 on Mar 20, 2026, 10:05:03 PM Last bumped on Mar 26, 2026, 8:10:44 AM

Since last patch problem increased massively!

Yeah since this patch the game takes insanely more VRAM and RAM, I had to get some extra RAM because 16 GB seems like its not enough anymore for the game. With 24 GB of RAM now when I play about 16-17 of them are being used, with only 1 tab of firefox open along with steam and discord, nothing else.
And yeah the game takes forever on a black screen to start up, probably cus its eating up all that RAM usage on startup and I guess since mine is only 2666 MHz that means its slowly gets used by the game? Performance is just getting worse every patch and they seem to not care at all about optimization. Assuming every average steam user/player has a 5000$ PC is insane. But if they wanna kick out a large chunk of their playerbase by literally making the game unplayable on so many people's PCs then that's their loss. Lifelong NEET, loud and proud about it. " Is this the system drive? If not, you need to provide information about the system drive as well. |
|
" It's the system drive. |

" This may be thrashing due to lack of free RAM. " While the game is loading, launch Resmon (Win + R), go to the Memory tab, and sort the Private column in descending order by clicking on the column title. Try to include as many processes as possible in the screenshot. You can also monitor disk activity in the disk tab. Try sorting by total column. " There you go. This is right after I launch the game, memory use slowly rises afterwards.
Spoiler
(sorry for Russian)
![]() There's definitely a ton of paging errors, staying at 2500-ish the whole time. |
|
" This is normal. It seems abnormal that available memory is higher than total memory. Perhaps this is due to memory compression. Can I see a screenshot of Task Manager in the Memory tab? |

i have this same problem on both poe1 and 2.

|
" Sorry for late response.
Spoiler
![]() This is shortly after launching the game, if it matters. |
