Noob - What am I doing wrong??

Just started playing and trying to get my head around the basics, so apologies in advance for the likely stupid questions and thanks for the help!

I'm following the 'Penance Brand of Dissipation Inquisitor League Starter' build from Maxroll and trying to equip the skill gems Frostblink & Holy Flame Totem, however when I socket these to my equipment, they aren't showing as active skills in the bottom right no matter what I do. My character appears to have the necessary level and intelligence but clearly I'm doing something wrong.

Any guidance would be much appreciated!

Would you be comfortable changing your account's privacy settings to allow us to view your characters through the website? Then if you socket the skill gems, we can look for signs of a conflict.

Screenshots are very limited; we have no idea what other equipment is equipped, which gems are linked to other gems, what you've done on the passive skill tree, etc. Because they're fundamentally not interactive, we might need dozens to know the answer.

If you left-click on a slot in your action bar, do you have the option of selecting the affected skills?

(I see in your image, you have one slot free, but try the manual step below anyway. I can also see on your character sheet, that holyflame totem and frostblink is available on your character, so you just should need to allocated on your bar. It is possible to have more skills allocated to other keys than is seen on your bar, but for now if you want to use those, you may want to swap them with something on your bar that you are not really using.)

Is your skill bar full? To change skills on your skill bar, you need left kick on the icon where you want to place it. It will then bring up all the possible options you can use, based on what gems you have available to your character.

There should be an option for the gems you have mentioned. Right click the icon of the one you want, and it will swap it in. You may not of needed to do this yet, as the first skills available automatically fill the bar, until it is full, at which point you need to do it manually.

If you are doing that and they are not showing in the available list, potentially something is preventing that from happening, but they should be in most cases.
