Merchant BOTS needs to be stopped

GGG need to setup some sort of check to prevent the merchant bots' activities.

It's easy to spot them. When someone buys 30 items in one second, it's not a human, it's a script.

The trend is to buy cheap items and sell them for Gem cutter.
It's obvious to spot those cancerous accounts.

I tried to buy a nightmare map earlier, and I had to compete with like 10 bots and other people trying to buy some for themselves too. Even the maps that were 10c above the cheapest maps listed were selling instantly.

GGG need to start do someth to stop thos bots and 3rd party apps from become WAAAAAAAAAAY faster than livesearch poe!

biggest and main problem live search INSANE MEGA ULTRA CRAZY SLOOOOOOOOW! while bots and 3rd party apps instant MEGA fast!

this makes just IMPOSSIBLE to even start bother to buy anyth as bots will NO MATTER WHAT faster BY DEFAULT and BY A LOOOOT!

But why would they stop their own behind the curtain activities?

This game was built for RMT ... and they do well. Hel they do well selling supporter packs for 3 years in EA without the crowd actually throwin in. Hehe. It is what it is.

How in the world do you spot this or know this happens? What script are YOU running that tracks how fast or how many trades someone ELSE does?

Or is this comment, and this thread, as I suspect, based on nothing real?


Someone beat you to a trade and it MUST be a bot, right? And because this happened once or twice to you, it must be a widespread problem right? That's the only conclusion to draw?

Doesn't take 200 IQ to figure this out my dude. Just need those 3 digits.

Let's be real though, these won't ban Chinese bots cause Tencent signs their checks, and it is what it is. Tencent does this on every game.

Lots to unpack, but I'll choose just one thing:

Hey guess what?! That's EXACTLY WHAT THEY DO!!!!!! Did you stop to consider that? To use your own words, it doesn't take 200IQ to realize that bot accounts are banned every minute you are playing the game. We even have tons and tons and tons of "proof" in the form of regular players getting banned for 3rd party software pretty damn regularly. This is information KNOWN to us as players.


However; what you fail to grasp is that the "problem", if there actually is one, doesn't have a solution. Much like how there is no solution to irl phone scammers and the like. You catch one, ban it....5 more will take it's place.

Furthermore, you completely disregarded the fact that while GGG might have data to know how many bots there are....WE DO NOT. Hence, the entire reason behind my post. Not the OP, nor you, nor I, nor anyone that will ever contribute to this thread knows the exact prevalence (or lack thereof) of bots within the trade system. Any post claiming otherwise is INSTANT grounds for complete dismissal on merit.

The BEST we can do, as players, is trust in the guardrails that are in place and STOP WITH THE TINFOIL HAT UTTER NONSENSE. Gold costs exist for a reason. Trade site wait messages exist for a reason. Server-side automatic monitoring exists for a reason. The code of conduct exists for a reason. The 24/7 security team that monitors the game exists for a reason. The machinery that automatically captures and removes actual bots at a incomprehensible speed exists for a reason.


The tinfoil hat mania is clouding reasonable and rational discussion and assessment.


I DARE YOU to experience what its like to "run a bot", or even just a simple injectable script: go ahead and create one and run it for an hour. See how long it takes you to get banned. I'll start taking bets over / under 10 minutes max.
