Does the resistance ignore chance of the Unholy Trinity Support apply to the DOT caused by skills?

All other sources of ignore resistance are applied "by hits".
For example, "Nearby Enemies' Fire Resistance is Ignored by Hits" from Vaal Impurity of Fire.
But the resistance ignore chance of Unholy Trinity Support does not appear to be limited to hit damage.
