There should be a techical/performance update before 0.5!

Because it has nothing to do with content/endgame and should be patched and deployed as soon as ready. It should be fixed before 0.5 so that we can enjoy the new content, and there will be crapload of bugs to be fixes anyways related to the new content, one thing to tick of the (long) list.

As it stand the performance is really bad, a lot of ppl report on that, across all tiers of gaming HW, also very high end! Shader problems are extremly annoying and you seem the only game publisher that does not know how to precompile shader cache once.

For me it got worse over time I have to say...
And also server performance (especially EU), better fix them in between not with the season!

So such technical diffulties are not troubling the new season.

The lack of concern to make this game function really does blow my mind for a company so dead set on using the "early access" exscuse.

We get all the negatives and zero upsides to "early-access". No rapid development as they decided it was better to try to milk the player base on two shoddy buggy messes rather than honor anything they said at launch.

I still wake up everyday and check the forum in some delusion that I'll see a post saying "yeah we majorly screwed up and now both games are worse than ever and we're not going to try to sell useless MTX during the early-access and we're going back to do all the work week neglected last year"... a lot of ifs and ands.

It's clear the leadership has dragged both titles into the dumpster. Will it be able to ever recover is the question.

Seeing as it's going to launch in this undercooked state, I highly doubt it.
Honsetly I have an idea where their heads are stuck, but I wont say it.
Client crashes for exact same reasons carried over from poe1 to poe2 speaks for itself. 12 years to fix the issue - no fix on horizon yet, that alone is INSANE. After recent 0.4f patch, where they claimed they fixed some client crashes, crashes got MUCH, MUCH worse and WAY more frequent than before. I could literally count on one hand how many crashes (game exits to desktop without any driver issues) I had before this patch, now it happens multiple times in a row before i even get to my hideout and dozens of time while trying to map to farm crystals. The game is unplayable, and if this is not adressed within a week or so, I am pulling my support until its 100% resolved.
I wont even mention performance of the game, or upscaling support because everybody knows its over a decade behind the industry, reason for that? Honestly I have no idea, its deffinetely not a reasonable one. GGG, how are you not embarassed? This is, indeed, really, really embarassing. Sometimes I wish this game was developed by some chinese dev company...

I've had VERY few issues at all; sorry but if htere's no crash reporting mechanism that sends in machine specs, location on crash, etc. then good luck getting this fixed
The lagging/stuttering/freezing/disconnects that result in sudden death combined with loss of xp on death is why I have very little motivation to continue playing. It is a terrible experience to have hours of your time wasted because of something beyond your control.

Either you play at a map difficulty that gets you xp and you die due to poor game performance resulting in the inability to progress.

Or you play at a lower map difficulty so you don't die even with the poor performance but you get so little xp that once again you can't really progress.

#1 priority needs to be to improve the performance of the game.

If for whatever reason you are incapable of that, then...

#2 set a cap on the amount of xp you can lose from dying each level. Lower the xp death penalty to 5% and make it so each level you can only lose that 5% a total of 4 times for a combined loss of 20%. Any deaths at that same character level beyond that result in no death penalty. Once you level it resets and you can again die up to 4 times losing 5% xp each time.

The direction their taking has left me with nothing but questions....

Its EA, And we paid into it expecting to have our input addressed to help shape the game into a experience all can enjoy obviously with hiccups and disagreement along the way, But they choose to stick to a 4 month release window between any content besides little bug fixes or out right nerfing machanics mid league which mess it up entirely

Why focus on leagues??? 4 Month release windows, We are here to test and leave our feedback, Any other EA game doesn't bound themselves to a 4 month window like this, They release content when they have worked it out so they can gain feedback

Take Titan Quest 2 for example, We have a road map, No hard dates as to not give players an expectation then stomp on it if things don't go according to plan, Players were upset initially with lack of enemy variation, So they added more enemy variations and said more to come, Players were upset between Act 1 and 2 there's not too much variation it "looks the same" They addressed this and gave their reasoning for it(your working your way through the land to new territories where landscape will really start to change along with enemies as your inching closer and closer to the end goal) They've how they would go about changing it/spicing it up different variations new bosses new landscapes, not just the same thing over and over, They release some updates faster then others, Not holding themselves to a tight schedule

We need flixiblity, We need time to try things out, When we have to wait 4 months to try out any new content, Theres gonna be alot of mixed opinions, Alot of people upset, And that won't change for another 4 months, Why the heck are they trying to focus on seasonal leagues for a game that isn't even finished It's absolutley baffling, We don't want leagues, We want content, We want to try that content, If some of its broken? Introduce hotfixes to outright remove certain effects say an item like the deepest tower, It made absolutley no sense why they disabled the deepest tower in following leagues WHEN THEY ADDED AN ARGUABLY MORE BROKEN HELMET Constricting Command

Baffling decisions all around and why I'm done this season, Theres a clear meta, ES, thats it, only way to play and level comfortably without needing a towel to constantly wipe the sweat off your hands and your grimy keyboard from all the sweat...
They don't pre-compile shader cache because there's not much benefit for DirectX 12.

I'm not making excuses for terrible API integration. It's there and they know it's there because they have a built-in re-init assets instead of allowing a TDR GPU hang crash because they fed your GPU too much garbage. DX12 doesn't verify like DX11. It will allow all types of slop.

But Shader Cache for DX12 is little more than a table lookup. The only time an OG pre-compile would have any notable effect is if they totally scuffed Pipeline State Objects.

There is still driver level cache which is why you'll see a specific copy of D3D12Core.dll and d3dcompiler.dll in most games. This is usually what the cache table is pointing to.

Usually the biggest performance improvement with poorly optimized games like this is the run uncompressed files. Though I'm sure GGG would consider that tampering or some nonsense.

At any rate. This is the price of cross play.

Don`t get Your hopes high for 0.5. Usually performance optimisation is one of the last development steps so I wouldn`t expect much before 1.0. As a console player i am happy with what they already done in 0.4, unlike 0.2/0.3 game is more than playable now. Whats most important they made official statement/response in that matter.

As for bugs/crashes etc - 0.4 problems are probably due to rushed release. Not only we encountered many technical problems but also didn`t receive endgame update. Given how much time they have to 0.5, i expect this patch to be in better shape. We will see.

true. dont wait too much from 0.5 because they have more time... they will fix all that mess they made in 0.4 (probably, but i'm sure not all of mess will be fixed)

ps. dont understand why do people think that devs make game for our joy? they dont want us to enjoy their game , but to pay for it. so if you dont like what you are playing in - stop paying. easy language for business
