Dark Mists bug

After getting the verisium spikes, I cannot talk to Freya to complete the quest.
Checkpoints, portal and waypoints don't work.

Cannot pick up the spikes after dropping them on the ground in zone, but can get new spikes from Dannig

Resetting the zone does not help as the new zone is also bugged.

Update: tried going to Isle of Kin and chatacter cannot talk to NPCs or use the ladders / waypoint.

Other characters are fine.

Stab one of the totems with the spikes so you free her

eventually found the solution to this but didn't update the thread - it was to do with the mortar totems skill somehow changing skills on the mouse button. changing the skills around then fixed it.
