Lost character

I went to the trade website to get a helmet. When I picked the helmet I wanted, I got a notification. Query error. Your character must be in game for this action. I go back to the game and it has reset. And my character is gone. I reload the game. And it asked me to start a new character. What is going on? I need help please. My character is level
