Help me here im a little confused

Can ice bomb from frost mages trigger the Cast on Freeze ? Is there specific spells i must cast , does matter that I must cast them and not the minions ?
I run an infernalist srs and i try to deal with heavy overwhelming like in Breaches and i thought maybe Cast on freeze setup can help
