Multistrike/smite animation cancelling with left stick

I remember being able to cancel multistrike with the left stick, but I can’t do it now. Maybe I’m missing something or misremembering? I’m not managing to cancel smite with multistrike

Edit: actually, I think it’s more a smite thing, can’t get any animation cancel to work on it
